The roof of a five story building collapsed after it was damaged in a gas leak explosion in Sesto San Giovanni on Sunday.
The explosion occurred in the early hours on Sunday in the apartment of a 73-year-old man. Hours after the explosion, after workers had managed to remove most of the debris, the roof suddenly collapsed, pouring yet more debris onto the street.
Though the building was severely damaged, inhabitants of the building reported only minor injuries.
The exact cause of the gas leak is still under investigation.

Two Russian warships that sparked a security alert when they passed through the English Channel arrived home to the Baltiisk port on Sunday after a three-month ocean voyage spanning 15,000 nautical miles.
Corvettes Boiky and Soobrazitelny returned after completing tasks in the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea and in the Indian Ocean on a range of combat and training missions, air and submarine defence drills.
Earlier this month, The UK’s Royal Navy Frigate HMS Westminster was dispatched to intercept the two Russian vessels as they sailed through the English Channel.
British Defence Minister Gavin Williamson stated that the frigate was dispatched to provide security
off the coast of Britain.
The commander of the helicopter unit of corvette Soobrazitelny Egor Turkov said that ships from France, England and the USA “were keeping track on” the Russian warships.

Tunisia: Thousands march in Tunis 7 years since revolution

Thousands of anti-austerity protesters walked through the streets of Tunis of Sunday angry at their government's failure to improve economic circumstances since removing their government in the 2011 uprising.
One member of the anti-austerity youth movement Fech Nestanew gave an insight into how he believes much of society is suffering in Tunisia.
«I thought that there would be a change (after the 2011 uprising), a better country, now, I'm feeling really disappointed. Here people are really disappointed except for the hypocrites that are trying to convince themselves that, as I said, they are 'fine'. We're not fine. We are not even fine,» he said.
«This is my graduating year and I can't even possibly find any hope of finding any job here. Needless to say that the people who are actually working and have jobs here they can't even afford their living,» he added.
It has been seven years since the January 14, 2011 toppling of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali after 23 years in power.
But rising anger over price hikes and new austerity measures has seen protesters return to the streets chanting the 2011 slogans of “work, freedom, dignity”.
UK: Brexit faithful rally against second EU referendum

Aperschnalzen involves a group of nine men in full lederhosen cracking a whip to expel the cold and awaken spring.

Italian pro-migration activist group Briser les frontiers marched on the French-Italian mountain border near Claviere and Moginevro on Sunday to protest migration laws at borders preventing the sanctuary of refugees.
The activists carried pro-migration banners as they travelled between the two mountains in a similar route which asylum seekers have been known to cross to get between countries often at great risk.
Italian and French mountain police blocked their paths however for most of the protest, but activists eventually reached their destination by staying close to the ski slopes.
Briser Les frontieres solidarity network member Daniele Brait explained: «In recent months there have been many attempts to cross the border into the Alps that seem to have become the new Mediterranean. People who have managed to survive the sea today risk their lives in these mountains.»
Migrants are known to regularly attempt to traverse the Colle della Scala (Cole de l'Echelle in French) in freezing temperatures some 1800 metres above sea level between Italy and France, resulting in the death of many.

Die Linke chairpersons Sahra Wagenknecht and Dietmar Bartsch were joined by French MP for La France Insoumise Jean-Luc Melenchon, during a party event in Berlin on Sunday, as they discussed political and economic troubles in Europe.
Bartsch took to the stage first saying: «Whether that's Donald Trump with his comments on Haitians, whether that's Mr. Orban visiting the CSU, and so on, we can all find countless examples of this cultural battle where civil values are being attacked — that's the challenge we're up against. There's one reason that it came to this — the decade long politics of neoliberalism brought us to the point where it was possible for the right to rise and fight for dominion over society.»
Guest speaker Melenchon, part of far right La France Insoumise party, followed the Die Linke chairperson, saying: «At the beginning, they said that it was against Iran, and now we understood it is against Russia. But no. Russia is not an enemy, it is a partner. Russia is a partner. No to war. No the armament. No compromise on war and peace. We don't want the Europe of defense.»
His speech was met with a resounding applause before Wagenknecht followed her party counterpart in explaining her displeasure at current conditions throughout Europe.
Wagenknecht said: «So I wonder where the Europe of Schulz, Merkel, Macron and others is leading to,» adding that «323 billion euros are going to stockholders in individual European countries, and at the same time we have a situation where poverty in Europe is at an all-time high, where so many young people are facing a life that offers them no chances, where education is being economised to the point where it no longer functions, where public institutions are decaying, where hospitals are completely underequipped, where countries are pressured to privatise and cut back on social benefits, and the dividends are bubbling more than ever before.»

Peru: Buildings ruined as 7.3-magnitude earthquake rocks Arequipa

Significant damage was caused in Arequipa, Sunday, after a 7.3-magnitude earthquake occurred off the southern coast of Peru. Local authorities reported one person was killed and more than 60 were injured as a result.
The earthquake caused severe damage to houses, hospitals, roads and schools. Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will visit Acari and Chala. Rescue workers were deployed to the area to assess the damage.
Officials reported one man was killed after a rock fell on him in Arequipa's Yauca.
The earthquake struck about 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) southwest of Puerto de Lomas at a depth of 12.1 kilometres (7.5 miles), 04:18 local time (09:18 UTC).
The earthquake has led to a tsunami threat for coastal areas near the epicentre.

Hitler's Mercedes-Benz heads to auction in Scottsdale

Former Nazi leader Adolf Hitler's Mercedes-Benz will go on auction at Worldwide Auctioneers in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 17, as seen from footage released on Sunday.
The 1939 Mercedes-Benz 770, is one of 88 produced and was built for and owned by Hitler and was seized by Allied forces in 1945.
Auctioneer and co-founder at Worldwide Auctioneers Rod Egan stressed, «It is the most historically significant automobile offered for sale,» adding «we can't change history.» He noted «This car affects people differently in all parts of the world; it will stir a different emotion in different people.»
The car is expected to sell for several million. According to reports, 10 percent of the earnings will go to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an international Jewish human rights organisation.
The car was sold in 2004 for €15 million — approximately $18 million, according to Egan.
