Приветствую!
Не так давно появилась проблема административного характера. Я сам не админ, но по многим причинам должен заниматься и этим.
На сервере DOMINO поднят LDAP, настроен.
Есть специально обученый ксерокс аппарат, который может ксерить, отправлять факс и электронную почту.
До недавнего времени работал поиск интернет адресов в справочнике через LDAP. Теперь, при поиске адреса пользователя из этого ксерокса в LDAP сервера Domino 8.5 просто ложится сервер Domino.
Через минут 4 -5 сервер Domino поднимается, но эксперименты показали, что может лечь так, что без физической перезагрузки сервера ничего сделать нельзя, даже поднять службу Lotus domino Server.
Так вот. Просветите меня плз, В чем может быть причина падения сервера Domino при поиске имен в справочнике через LDAP
А при открытии какой-то базы стандартной или самописной?
Поставить кластер. Поиграться с параметром server_transinfo_range. Плюс статьи на русском ТУТ,
А вообще, полезную инфу можешь почерпнуть

Всем добрый день!

Решил протестировать работу известного антиспама SpamSentinel for Lotus Domino, после установки вся почта лежит в mail.boxе и не летит к получателят, если только в ручную не подтолкнуть каждое нужное письмо. Вопрос к тем, кто использует SpamSentinel, какие базовые настройки необходимы для более менее корректной работы чтобы почта ходила.

SpamSentinel for Lotus Domino проинсталлирован, до инсталляции пробки не было.

В mail.box у каждого письма пометка с восклицательным знаком и внутри следущий текст:
What should you do?
This message has been marked held by the mail server because it matched the condition criteria of a System Mail Rule. No further processing of this message will occur while it remains in this routing state. Administrators may choose to delete this message or release it to the recipient(s).
The "Edit Message" button can be used to modify an address prior to releasing the message.

Releasing a message held by a System Mail Rule will cause the router to attempt message delivery or transfer. To review or modify the System Mail Rules enabled on a mail server, please consult the appropriate Server Configuration document.

I'm Bernard Grenville-Jones, working in systems and operations at OAC Actuaries and Consultants (OAC plc). We're a medium-sized actuarial consulting company with around 30 staff, based in the City of London, UK. We've always operated -- since inception in 1994 -- as a virtual company, with our employees based at their homes, no head office, everything managed simply and as lean as possible, using Lotus Notes as a major part of the glue that holds our systems infrastructure together.

Running a business like this has a variety of challenges: keeping costs down, yet ensuring that the business is efficient and flexible. We've found over the years that paying attention to the simple things has always been important to enabling our business to grow and prosper. One of these simple things is how to handle inbound old-fashioned post coming to a company address, and then being able to get that mail quickly and securely to the right people to handle it.

We've been scanning mail into a Notes database for years, but as the company grew, the manual process was increasingly untenable, and we had to find a better way. And so we did.

Apart from running the business, we like cooking. We saw the solution to these issues like cooking; use the best ingredients, simple and fresh, and cook them together carefully until you get the perfect dish. So let's follow that through, and look at how we cooked our inbound post process -- which combines scanning, barcodes, and Lotus Notes. Let's start by looking in a bit more detail at the ingredients.

Notice anything different today?  Codestore lost weight over night. I finally got round to doing what I've been meaning to do for years now and cleaned up the HTML:

The boxes that used to be on the right-hand-side of the page were marked-up like this:

Now they're marked up like this. Not only is it lighter it has semantic meaning. Remove CSS from the equation and the HTML markup still gives the content its context.

At the same time I managed to reduce the 12k of CSS down to 8k. That means nothing in the world of broadband but it makes me happy to think it's now "clean".

At the same time I made some other tweaks (notice the avatars next to the latest comments on the homepage?) and hopefully now it looks a lot cleaner and more professional.

Looking Forward

Next I'm going to tidy up the backend design elements. Changes you won't see. The database is over ten years old and is a mess. Before I can take it any further I want to make sure it's at a point where it represents where I'm at now with Domino design methodologies. Then I can build on top of that.

Looking Back

As I'm, rather ambitiously, calling what you're looking at "release 7" I thought it a good time to update the "memory lane" blog entry and also made an archive copy of R6 so you can remember what it looked like for the past 4 years.

It all makes me feel quite nostalgic and just a tad sad. Flogging a dead horse? It feels a bit like it.

Browsers are really good at caching .SWF files. This can be a good or a bad thing. It's a good things until it happens that your customer is looking at the old version and not the one you've just fixed and the confusion then ensues.

What you need to do is make sure that when you upload a new SWF file that's what everybody sees. Here's a quick and easy way to do it.

The image below shows the File Resources section for the Staff Skills database that I've been talking about recently. Notice the multiple versions of the same SWF.

Each time I recompile the app in Flex Builder I add a new File Resource and add a new version number to it.

Then, in the Form it lives in I update the value in a Computed For Display Field, called "FlexAppVersion", like below.

This field is referenced directly in the two Computed Values you see above. Should all make sense. Rocket science it ain't.

Next time a user refreshes the page you're almost guaranteed they'll be getting the new version. Although there's always the chance their browser has cached the HTML itself. To check for this you can reference the version field in the page title as well, like below.

If what you expect people to see isn't what they say they're seeing then you can always ask them what they see in the title just to be sure!

The design work took on Lotus Quickr was really great. It's well designed, so you can rapidly fill in content into places and work with it.
 
But the reality shows another issue:
I oftenly was asked for deeper integrating the CI from a comany's web site on Quickr. Well this is tricky on Quickr. There ought to be a mechanism for easily integrate at least basic colour treatments for better Integration in a company CI, or a bit more than just 'add your logo'.
 
Or - just take a look at some CMS - Systems: changing from one theme to another is not only easy, there are bunches of free and beautiful themes out there to use in these CMS's.
 
These two points would be really attractive advantages in Quickr.

The ability to "Send as" a different user (if you have access to their mailbox) as opposed to the "Sent on behalf of %idfile%".
 
We often get executive assistants who send emails from their Executive's mail box and don't want their name to appear anywhere on the email.
 
Solution should be easy for end user. Avoid location changes (thinking locations should be obsolete anyways in this day and age) and be based out of the main mail8x.ntf template. I've used the ACLteambox template in the past to achieve this, but I shouldn't have to.

Idea:
Sometimes it is possible to ask questions that do not have a correct answer. i.e. there is no solution.  Perhaps we need a way to mark a question as closed without marking any of the given aswers as being the correct answer.

[have the option to] create a development environment that is identical to the production environment.
The development environment has the same databases (same name and replicaid) as the production environment.
When a developer logs in to the client or designer, he or she can choose which environment to log in to.
 
It should then be easy to:
- replace designs of all databases in production with the designs of all databases in test and vica versa
- same for development and test designs
- replace all documents in development and test with the documents in production, so we can test what a new design will do on real documents.
- see in the development environment which databases have been changed with respect to the production and test environments.
 
 
I see three ways to implement this:
1. use different extentions for the production, test and development databases. Example: .nsf (prod), .nst (test) and .nsd (dev)
2. have development, test and production environment contained in the production database (making it 3x as big)
3. dedicate a server for the development and a server for the test environment

I have a properties window pointing at the Form properties of an opened form. When I switch to another (opened) form the properties window will no longer show the Form properties, but switches to a Text properties window.
 
Why can't the former selection not be kept? I see no reason for this, in case the current selection is available in the other design element.

How about a certification path for crash and performance troubleshooting issues.
 
Although the admin path is on setting up your server, it doesn't really cover low level troubleshooting involved to find the root cause in crashes or performance issues (not always directly related to Notes/Domino).
 
Some points to cover.
 
Server + Client
 
NSD
- Generation
- How to read it
- What to look for.
- Common Debug settings. (impact, results).
 
Database -
 - Common Design Performance
 - Understanding common areas of NSF (eg. IDTable, UNKTable, NIF).
 - Corruption issues
 
Performance
 - Server / Client settings in various functional areas.
 
Probably some more that can be added.
 
The thinking behind this is that when such an issue occurs often admins learn as they go (Tech Notes, trial and error, Redbooks). Having this knowledge+Certifcation up front means if at least you can't solve the issue, you can self diagnose faster saving time dealing with support.

when server based archiving is anabled and the a different server than the mail server is chosen as the target, the ACL of the archive and the log file is not adjusted. the [Adminsitration Server] is still set to whatever the mail file has it set to. Subsequently, any AdminP requsts that should run against the archive do not because it resides on a server that is not set as the adminsitration server and names changes etc. do not occur.

Idea:
 When a user is delegated to a person's contacts with read, edit, create rights, the Forward as vCard option is not available.  This came up numerous times while migrating folks from Outlook to Notes.  EA/AAs tend to do this quite a bit out of the Executives contacts.  Seems like an easy thing to have added.

Idea:
I would like to have an option where you can set an attribute on more than one design element (or sub-element) at a time. For instance: when you want to change the font of your columns, but leave the other settings like color or emphasis as they are, this idea would be very helpfull.
 
You can use the apply to all columns, but that will change other settings too.

Converting a mail database from an 6.x or 7.x mail template design with the out of office agent enabled to an 8.x mail template design causes the agent to send replies to messages previously replied to again and respond to all newly received messages.
In a Notes web application, you can set a link hotspot to open the page in a new browser window. To do this from the Notes Client, highlight the text or object you want to use as the hotspot, choose C
In Lotus Notes 6.5.5/7.0.1 and earlier releases, if you receive an external e-mail and send a reply/reply to all, if the "friendly" name of the sender or any copied recipients contains an extended character (such as an umlaut), the resulting reply address contains a comma and the From address is split in two. Why does this happen?
In Notes 5.x and 4.x, when receiving the New Mail notification pop-up when Notes was not the top-most application, and when switching to Notes and clicking "OK," the focus would return to the last foreground application. However, in Notes 6.x and higher, the focus remains with Notes as the foreground task rather than returning the focus to the third-party application as expected.
Determining if the correct version of Java is installed and working at the OS level.
When creating a first Domino Server on an iSeries machine after loading the Domino code, the user is seeing the message "CPF22E3 received from API QSYGETPH."
Why is there an option to configure Instant Messaging in Toolbar preferences but there is no option for Instant Messaging or Sametime through the toolbar?
Why does the workspace icon for the mail file replica not honor what is set in the Mail tab of the Location document after a restart of the Notes client?
Using Notes or Domino Web Access, the following error occurs when opening a mail file: "No Help-About Document is Available for this Database." In some cases, this is observed only the first time the mail file is opened. It typically does not occur when opening your own mail file. This will occur in cases when the user opening the mail file has Public Access rights to the database.
You may experience performance issues (not hangs) on Domino Release 8.5.x.
User is using the search feature from the Notes Client toolbar. They are choosing to search 'all mail' as a search scope - when the search results are shown they include calendar entries and information.

After upgrading to Lotus Notes 8 Standard , your first attempt to start the client fails with the error: "Failed to login. CLFRJ0010E: Notes initialization." The Notes 8 Basic client runs correctly.
