  Sony is introducing a comprehensive response to the business issues facing professionals in the Media market. The Media Backbone will link the various devices and solutions used throughout a content creation workflow, providing network-based management of AV files and metadata; and fully exploiting the advantages of file-based operation.

“Where traditionally Sony has focused on providing standalone devices to this market, we are now offering total solutions that will provide frameworks for connecting devices and services,” said Steve Stubelt, director of Sony Electronics’ Systems Solutions Group.

The Media Backbone includes a range of hardware and software platforms to support the filed-based operating needs of customers in the Media market. It combines Sony's deep technological expertise in the AV area with IT-based systems provided by Sony and other manufacturers. It can also link services and solutions to company-wide enterprise systems to support comprehensive efficiency. The architecture does not differentiate against products from other manufacturers; rather it is designed to present solutions to meet customer needs on all types of products and systems.

“Sony played a leading role in helping the broadcast and production industry transition from traditional AV to file-based workflows, and with the creation of all these files, or assets, has come the need for effective file and workflow management,” Stubelt said. “That’s a main concept behind our Media Backbone vision,’ But providing complete file management solutions also denotes more than just architecture,” “It also encompasses consultation, implementation, follow-up maintenance, and more.” далее

The new model expands the capabilities of Sony’s previously announced SRW-9000, adding a 35mm imager and PL mount to increase its flexibility and offer shooters more image creation options.

“Demand for digital shooting with a 35mm size sensor is rising for both motion picture and prime-time TV drama production, two areas where our F35 has had great success,” said Chris Marchitelli, speaking for Sony Electronics. “This new model’s S35mm one-chip CCD sensor and PL lens mount are identical to the F35, so it combines the SR portability of the 9000 with the high-end optics of the F35, giving DPs an incredibly powerful and versatile tool for creating any ‘look’ they need.”
 
The SRW-9000PL offers full RGB image capturing (without colour sub-sampling), ultra-wide dynamic range (over 12 T-stops), variable speed (SR Motion™) with speed ramp capability, S-Log and HyperGamma capability. The camcorder is capable of 4:2:2 10-bit recording at 1080/23.98PsF, 24PsF, 25PsF, 29.97PsF, and 1080/50i, 59.94i. It can also record 4:2:2 1080/50P as standard configuration. далее

Sony Portugal has signed a contract with TV broadcaster SIC to install the SONAPS news production system at their editorial offices in Lisbon and Oporto.
 
The SONAPS system, designed specifically to produce news stories enables effective workflow especially designed to create news stories. Some of the key benefits of the SONAPS solution are:
