MAKE_DOMINO_AND_BACKUPS_GO_FASTER=1 This solution exists and it is called Defrag.NSF. If you let Domino do its thing, your databases will rapidly fragment and this saps server performance. Compact is the worst culprit, and this affects SANs as well.
Defrag.NSF corrects and helps prevent this damage and brings your databases back into line.
TLCC has announced a new course, Introduction to XPages Development. This free course will enable experienced Notes and Domino developers to get started with XPages. Introduction to XPages Development is a two hour self-paced course you do right in the Notes client and Domino Designer. It includes hands-on activities showing you how to create XPages and add controls to display Domino documents and views. The course also demonstrates advanced techniques, such as using Dojo to display a chart in both the native Notes client and a web browser.
At the moment I have an insatiable appetite for all things ASP.NET MVC, which is what I've been using for a week or so now to (re)develop a couple of sites.
First off I practised by converting this site from "classic" WebForms and now I'm using MVC 3 and Linq-2-SQL on a real paid job. I have to say I completely love it. It's like I've discovered web development nirvana.
Anyway, what's this new way of learning? Well, it's a daily email from Stack Overflow. If you go to the page that show all tags you can subscribe to a daily email of those that are deemed new and interesting for any tag you fancy, like so:
You can also follow via RSS but that's too easy to ignore, whereas I like how I get a list in my inbox once a day:
All I do then is skim through and for any that sound of use I click to read the answers provided.
I've learnt quite a lot using this new approach so far...
Domino has always had strong standards support for Interweb protocols, but that seems to be slipping a bit. At present, Domino supports SAML authentication. In order to maintain Domino's viability and competitive reasons, we also need OAuth and OpenID support (in that order).
Techlish -> English translation of "what is OAuth & OpenID":

This Idea is specific for DR(Disaster recovery) situation.
I think it would be great to be able to create new copy of NSF without any of the emails it contains. (Design and basic docs only)
The Idea would be to have a full system back in operation with a super low SLA.
All mail files, emails and DAOS should still be backup as normal but we could get a system back in order in no time flat by simply copying empty NSF(in their proper folders). All preferences would be in the NSF.. Owner, quota etc.. Just no email.
Once the DR system is back up and running, then we could take the time to retrieve full NSF and perhaps have a Merge button in the shell created (Merge backup NSF into this shell) so we do not lose any documents create between the time of DR and the time of retrieval.
I know. Ideally, you want to have a second live site with Cluster enabled.. But this is not always possible.

Give the Explorer Connector the ability to replace a file with another one without the need to repopulate the meta-data.
Today, if you are using the 8.5 Explorer Connector you can delete an existing document and then upload a new one to the same place, but you have to resupply all of the meta-data (file display name) and specify the location of the new attachment. My users work from Explorer but have to switch to the web site to use the replace functionality.
