What a performance on by this Nubian boy! Didnt see this coming at all!
He was on a body board on the Nile river at Aswan, coming directly towards the motor boat we were on. when arriving at the boat, he held on (the boat) and performed these songs. It was totally unexpected and he communicated in a language that we didn't understand. But the songs we totally understood. Wished someone prepped us beforehand so we would be rady with a tip for the boy. It was just too unexpectedly. Quite an experience!

This is J, one of our twins aged 3, working out how to get down from the frame after easily climbing to the top*.
My name in the family has evolved from "Gramps" to "Danger-Gramps" as my grandchildren come home from exploring adventures with occasional bruises and scraped knees, so it is good that I can show the twins that this is not a new aberration but just a continuation of the process that encouraged them to become the capable and resourceful people they are now...

We went to Riga when he was 10 months and after that there have been quite a few places more he has seen. I hope it will give him some knowledge and understanding of the world in his backpack for life.
Here he is sitting on the Beynac castle and the Dordogne river runs below, a lovely area in France.

Anna looks with wonder at her first big waterfall up close enough to really relate to. We went to South Proxy Falls today and North Proxy Falls. They are in the Cascade Range of Oregon and have lava, wild and tall rhododendrons, Douglas Fir trees and ferns, lichen, etc. This sepia toned pic was taken within a minute of the color one. If you observe closely the upper left corner, you can see a hint of her Mommy's proud smile. I was going to crop it out, and decided not to. Looks as if we have 3 generations of waterfall lovers here. I'm not going to put this on any waterfall groups because there is no actual waterfall in the picture; but I am going to put it in my own personal waterfall set because the trip up to the falls was where I caught this picture.
This shot was Private to only friends and family for almost 18 years. Anna will be going to college soon. I made it public on May 6, 2023.
