QA Test Designer

We offer the work with enterprise level web applications, as part of Quality Assurance (QA) department. You will ensure product quality and minimize quality assurance efforts for customers. In this position you will analyze specifications, design test plans, develop and automate test cases, run tests, analyze results and report bugs. We assume that you are interested in professional development and you would like to work as part of challenged working environment.

Working place and schedule:

CTCO office is placed in Riga.
Working hours are from 9.30 to 18.30 Riga’s time, with lunch from 13.00-14.00.

Requirements:

This position requires at least 3 year of studying to B.S. in computer science or related field (like mathematic or physic).

You are welcome to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in the software testing area. We suppose that you are familiar with concepts of test case, test plan, bug/change request tracking, black/white box testing, regression testing, and, what is even better – have working experience of testing. In addition we guess that you are familiar with software testing documentation and are capable to write test plans and bug reports as well as change request reports

PROFICIENCY IN ENGLISH.
You should be able to read technical documentation, make clear written description of the problem, able to discuss the issue with team members, make oral description of problem, and give an explanation and possible decision.

PC SKILLS:

• Windows/MS Office 2000/IE 5.5-6 - experienced user level
• NN 4-7, Mozilla 1, Opera 7 - basic user level
• UNIX (FreeBSD, Linux) - basic user level
• Internet fundamentals
• Networking fundamentals

NEXT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE NOT OBLIGATORY BUT GIVE YOU AN ADVANTAGE:

• Use of software for automated testing
• Load / Stress / Performance testing
• HTML/XML
• JavaScript/VB
• Perl/PHP/C
• Java/C++
• Relational databases and SQL knowledge

Tasks and responsibility:

You will take responsibility for product quality from end user point of view. You are accurate, responsible and tactful person, able to work under time pressure, self-motivated and productive.

We are always on the look out for exceptional software testing talents to strengthen our team and can offer adequate job both for experienced QA Engineer and yesterday students interested in taking a part in development process within Mercury.

Position Basic Purpose:

The majority of product testing is accomplished by the team of Functional QA testers in Ukraine. Each tester is responsible for testing a designated portion of a product. Testers initially master basic product areas, and move to more complex areas as they build product knowledge and QA skills. This creates a set of fairly rapid career progression options for each new tester, and yields a more flexible test assignment model as the team matures. Each tester is assigned to one of sub-teams related to the product area in which that person has been trained. Specific responsibilities of all testers follow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete basic product training
• Conduct testing and other QA activities in the product area assigned to the team
• Helps define and continually improve the software QA process
• Identify and log product defects in the areas being tested
• Document and escalate all issues encountered in the course of assigned work
• Creating tests from business cases and developers specification document
• Plan personal and team or sub team testing activities
• Create and maintain automatic tests
• Communicates effectively with members of product development team and other QA teams.
• Assist with non-testing QA activities, as required, to include:
  
  • Test script creation/update
  • Test script automation
  • Testing documentation development
  • QA Lab setup and maintenance
  • QA process design and revision
  • Product, process and technical training
  • QA metrics collection and reporting

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Advanced user level in Windows, any Unix experience is a plus
• Basics of Cliet-Server technology understanding
• Web development technology understanding
• Familiarity with scripting languages
• Familiarity with object oriented software design, programming experience is a plus
• Sociability, responsibility, good self-learning

Education

• BA or BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Applied Mathematics
• Good english skills.

Work Experience

Experience in QA testing is a really big plus for candidate, but this is not absolutely required. Position of Software Quality Engineer is quite new in Ukraine therefore we offer training inside the company.
