The role:
The Avionics Engineer supports the development of controllers for, and the integration of hydraulic power generation systems into the Irkut MC-21 commercial aircraft avionics. The role is also responsible for avionics components procured by sub-tier suppliers. The Avionics Engineer will prepare for and attend review meetings and support other tasks as required. This role coordinates technical communication between Eaton's Aerospace Group and customer and supplier teams. In addition, the role supports all systems development tasks within the Eaton team that relate to avionics.
Critical for success in this role is the ability to:
- Establish appropriate flow-down of aircraft requirements to the system level based on EASA and MAK Part 25 regulations. This includes understanding the system specifications, layouts and functions, and the interfaces to other systems.
- Assist in review and refinement of system specification (s).
- Determine component functionality, sizing and develop component specifications using customer data and / or his / her own analysis etc.
- Participate in the system and components development process by identifying potential weak points and develop solutions based on engineering judgment and inputs from Eaton experts, customers, suppliers, and other systems partners.
- Assist in meetings with the customer and other systems partners, distribute results to the development team, and coordinate actions as necessary.
- Prepare system documents, eg, description notes, analysis reports, certification reports, etc.
- Ensure information flow within the Eaton Systems team and with other Eaton plants to facilitate work flow, efficiency, and the quality of work results delivered to the customer.
- Participate in the development of test and certification concepts for the system program.
Job Qualifications / Educational Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5 + years of direct experience or working knowledge of aircraft avionics systems and components.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to work well with customers and development team members.
- Experience in practical application of pertinent industry specs including recent ARINC, RTCA and SAE documents, as well as avionics qualification / certification experience.
Fluent in Russian and English (both verbal and written technical language skills).
- Good presentation and customer relation skills.
- Project management and work in integrated (cross-functional) product teams.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Visio, MS Project.
- Familiar with at least one PDM system, as well as WebEx, MS Netmeeting, and other virtual collaboration tools.
Essential skills include:
Knowledge of
- System functions and avionics interfaces with aircraft or other systems,
- Avionics system and hardware / software development and certification processes,
- System test, troubleshooting and / or product support experience are of benefit.
- Pertinent military and commercial standards and best practices for fixed wing and / or rotorcraft systems, including extensive knowledge of DO-254 and DO-178 or Russian equivalents.
- Working knowledge of EEE related requirements for aircraft systems and components
