           Mr Brown’s telephone rang sharply at four o’clock one morning.

             A woman was on the line.

              “Your dog is barking and keeping me awake”, she said.

             Mr Brown asked her name, thanked her and ranged off.

             The next morning, precisely at four o’clock

             the woman was  awakened by a phone call. It was Mr Brown.

             “Madam”, he said, “I have no dog”.
