manhole - люк
parking meter - паркометр, счетчик на стоянке
high-rise building - многоэтажное здание
pedestrian scramble - пешеходный переход позволяющий переходить перекресток во всех направлениях одновременно, даже по диагонали
pothole - выбоина в дороге
billboard - рекламный щит
speed bump - дорожный асфальтовый гребень поперёк проезжей части
low-rise building - низкоэтажное здание
fire hydrant - пожарный кран, гидрант
countdown timers - таймер установленный в светофорах который ведет обратный отсчет времени, показывая сколько осталось времени до смены на другой сигнал (обычно с зеленого на желтый и затем красный)

  7. Installing speed bumps in a city is controversial. While they certainly make drivers reduce the speed, they aren’t safe for bikers and motor bikers. What are your views on this issue?
  8. Is it illegal to park in the vicinity of a fire hydrant in your city? What distance should be kept away from a fire hydrant?
  9. Do you think countdown timers are efficient? Do they really help the drivers predict the signal change and/or prevent accidents?
