On Wednesday April 9, the RA program at 1330, Rural Reporter,
ended early enough, at 1357 for a 1-minute RA frequency change announcement by
Roger Broadbent, as I was listening to the best frequency, 9580 before it cut
off at 1358*. This is not the case on Thursdays, when the 5-minute Perspective
commentary at 1355 is always cut off in the middle at 1358 from that frequency,
without any warning, as happened again April 10.

On April 9, said three or four 6 MHz frequencies closing and three or four 6-7
MHz about to open at 1400, but NOT mentioned is 9590, which is already on the
air and continues. There could be others. What is the point of omitting
frequencies in the latter category, which also carry the QSY announcement?

At 1425, I found 7240 doing well and most hams avoiding it; at 1426 also on
5995 which I at first thought was something non-English, but it turned out to

With rock-bottom solar flux of 69 again, R. Tirana
reception is generally poor on 13 MHz but varies from day to day vs adjacent
CVC Darwin on 13635. April 7 at 1449 check, R. Tirana 13640 was audible and no
CVC at all. No CODAR QRM either, even down on open 13605, tnx to the poor

Internationale, revived in March 2007 but carried on satellite only) via
Sines noted around 2010 with strong signal on 9765, distorted audio of
clearly religious program content, delivered by an announcer working the
mic extremely close. At 2110 recheck on 7150 considerably weaker, now

is 250 kW, 110 degrees from Noblejas until 2200. Continuous RTTY QRM of almost
equal level here, sounding very much like the same on 9830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 08/04/2008)

REE relay in COSTA RICA: A-08 scheduling of Clasicos Populares
is now Mon/Tue/Wed only at 1305-1400, best audible here on 15170, which is
strong but lo-fi; April 7 program lasted right up until 1400 rather than
cutting off at 1355 as used to happen at 1455 in B-season on 17595, which is
still // direct from Spain but not propagating much that early with SF down to
69 again. At 1400, it was announced on 15170 that service to America would
resume at 1800 on 9765, 17850; and then off the air.

Also Tue April 8 at 1350, the show was interviewing someone speaking English,
apparently without consecutive or voice-over translation. At 1358 before
closing, said that tomorrow the program would originate live from Jaen at 3 pm,
so this 1300+ UT broadcast is apparently a direct relay from domestic network
Radio 1 as on the HOE pdf schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 08/04/2008)

NHK R. Japan, via Sackville, 11705, cut on late April 9 at *1400:20
with news headlines already in progress. Is this transmitter being retuned from
another frequency right up to 1400?

A different problem the next day, April 10. Listened to part of the broadcast
about Noh performance combined with Maya Plisetskaya`s ballet, but at 1425 I
noticed that there was no audio, just open carrier. Fill music kicked in from
RCI Master Control in Montreal at 1426, our beloved harmonica CD no longer
heard except when something goes wrong, like losing the program feed from
Tokyo. This lasted until 1429, when Sackville normally cuts the frequency off
abruptly, but they must have been sidetracked by today`s anomaly, since this
time it stayed on another full minute until 1430* with RCI IS and IDs (Glenn

Tibet: Lhasa PBS, parallel 6130, 5240 & 7385 at 2345z,
just after local sunrise in Lhasa (I think), about an hour
before sunset here. I caught this same trio back in

schedule. It closely follows my reception for the past two Saturdays
from 1400-1430 UT (21:00 – 21:30 local time in Laos), with about 15
minutes of news, followed by program of learning English. The only
difference in the schedule is the days: they list Mon. & Tue. and so
far I have only caught them on Sat. Would be interesting to know just
what their full schedule actually is, especially for the English and
French lessons.

presumed RTM on 15340 with Arabic vocal music; not audible on 15335 or 15345,
but there was a carrier detectable on 15335 and not 15345 at this hour. I
previously remarked after Noel Green`s and Wolfgang Buschel`s logs that I had
also heard it on 15340//15345, but my FRG-7 parallax must have been off again,
really 15335//15340 --- altho Morocco does use 15345 later in the day to the
detriment of Argentina. At 1345 and still at 1419, 15340 was bothered by

Thu April 10 at 1301 on 12130, Pep Boys commercial, in English,
which struck me as slightly out of place; it was within IRN`s so-called but
slanted ``News``, beloved of World Harvest Radio. Are there really Pep Boys
stores in the designated target areas of eastern China, SE Asia, western
Indonesia? Could be, but I bet they don`t know they are advertising on KWHR,
and does the four-tires-for-the-price-of-three promotion apply there?

Per FCC, KWHR is on 12130 M-F at 1200-1300, and Sat/Sun extended to 1400, until
5 October 2008, an odd date. How do they know that now? Some contract expires?
HFCC agrees on the scheduling and adds that all this is supposed to be in
Vietnamese. Perhaps KWHR didn`t get the transmitter turned off in time, as it
was absent when rechecked at 1327, just two-tone CODAR dominating the
frequency, so does that mean two CODARs clashing?

However, the Angel 3 schedule at
http://www.whr.org/customcf/dsp_schedule_read.cfm?Search=Angel3
on the contrary shows the only Vietnamese on 12130 is at 1200-1300 Wednesdays
only, Hoa-Mai Radio, by Nguyen Cong-Bang. IRN news is indeed scheduled M-F at
1300-1305, and the frequency is supposed to remain on air until 1400 daily with
nothing but English gospel huxters, LeSEA music fill programs, etc., then

Lately, I don't "trust" too much on DX. Since February,DX opportunities
has been rather seldom. Last night at around 23:47 UTC, while doing my
usual dial scan, something showed up on 1512 Khz. There was Romantic
music almost sounding like Samba. Since Belgium VRT went off the air on
that frequency, I can't mess up with it. While waiting for spoken
content to help me ID, nothing showed up. Only Romantic music with
Portuguese sounding lyrics. It can't be Saudi Arabia neither Iran. I
desesperatly tried to match it with Greek Radio stream. I found
difficult to find my way throught that Greek alphabet even trying mouse

93.1 WDR 3 Bonn-Venusberg and 100.5 WDR 4 Teutoburger Wald but these
are not consitent enough to be included on the main list.

7120 Unid. April 7th. S/on at 1502 on 7120.3 (it's .37
says Mauno, thanks). Modulation improved 1605 and
I could hear non-stop music. I'd say Sudan/Djibouti style,
a bit sad songs. I couldn't hear any talks, of course the
Chinese splatter was at times strong. Luckily the ute
7122 was silent.

Re my 5100 R Bana log of April 6th (below).
I guess I have to correct myself. After listening today
various Eritrean channels, I believe the program
yesterday on 5100 was VOBME 1st program and closing
music was not the "Bana song" but N/A, the one sung by
the cheerish choir.
Today, I think, Eritrea was carrying clandestine programs
1600 till about 1800. Ethiopian jamming was DRM-type.

5100 was jammed continuously, I could hear the N/A in the clear at 1800.

7100 was empty most of the time, maybe this Eritrean transmitter
was used on some other channel.

7175 occupied by DRM-type jammer.

7999.4 heavily jammed, at 1700 a short pause and I could
hear a female voice announcing something about Somalia, then the
jammer returned. Recheck around 1745, no jamming there and the
program was possibly VOBME 2nd program. S/off 1800 with N/A.

here are some few of ALF's and my mixed-mode loggings from the
weekend...

After many nights ALF was lucky and got the frequency of the new
Ukrainian CW coastal / maritime station URV9 on the 6 MHz maritime
band: 6425 kHz.
So far only the vessels could be monitored (on/around 6300 kHz),
and this time another vessel could be identified. All vessels
so far caught were part of the fleet of the CHERNOMORTEKHFLOT
company (Odessa, UKR) (Dredgers) - www.chtf.com.ua -
That support my original idea that URV9 is "just" a shore station
of a specific fleet or company and not a open public commercial
coastal station.
Maybe the same for UHX5 (Astrakhan, RUS) ? But so far no
fleet could be identified...

The so-far UNID net with GAS and SAZ looks like another branch of the
Georgian MILs. 5103 kHz gave a decode "TO SAZ" by 8GS !
A second "new" aspect of this net. The first idea about these new
idents (do not saw many of the old ones since KGn/LFn came up,
only 1BR/KBR & 4BR - maybe they did a major re-organisation of their
ALE radio networks ?) was that KG4/LF4 (with AAW, BAW, BER, BIR,
DUV, SRT) and KG3/LF3 (with EGD, JYT, SHD) are two "different"
nets or branches. But this time 6610 kHz show up with KG4/LG4
(& BIR, DUV, AAW) and later with KG3 (to BIR). That means that
KG3 called a known station from the KG4/LF4-"branch".
We need much more monitoring to them to understand whats going on.

... and gain new unid/unid nets:

5812 kHz with 1108 & 1116 (both idents were known for the "Arab Voice"-
and the Moroccan Civil Protection-Net.

6630 kHz with "7" and "303" (complete?).

Again "my idea" is that TSR is the base HQ ident, while TS1 could
be one sqn based on this AB. I think TS2 was reported in the past too.

I am hearing a very weak beacon around 498.4 kHz at the moment. I
can't get a DF bearing as it's too weak, and the QRN is quite high
tonight, it sounds very distant though. Callsign sounds a bit like
'OX'. Could this be related to the UNID 'GD' heard recently I wonder?

I had something similar quite a number of years ago with OEM (Scandinavian
OE) on 304.5. I do recall it came in clear as a bell but was never heard
again. Is 498 not the ship's marine beacon test freq? If so it could well be

Band rather noisy this morning, and little propagation except for 343 ML,
thanks to Dick Palmer noticing it is back on again. I hadn't checked for it
since it left the air back in 2006. Except for 332 POA and 353 LLD, ML was
the best Pacific signal, lasting for over 30 minutes, though I wasn't up
early enough to tell when it was first heard. Nice to have it back again.

мощности передатчика. Возможно, после модернизации их будет неплохо слышно и в Санкт-Петербурге.

Issoudun site in France for 1 & 1/2 hours daily. This is the schedule:-

У белорусской службы Польского Радио изменилась одна из частот:

- 11975 кГц вместо 7180 кГц с 13:30 до 14:29 (замечено мной при
мониторинге, подтверждено расписанием на сайте станции). На мой
взгляд, новая частота не самая удачная, т.к. с 14:00 на ней
появляется китайская глушилка (против Голоса Америки на тибетском).

Параллельно вещание идёт на частоте 9440 кГц, как и раньше.
