Back: cast on 87 sts with 4.5 mm needles and cont as foll: edge st, 85 sts basic pattern 1, starting foll diagram 1, rep patt g 6 times, end foll diagram 1, edge st. For hip shaping bind off 1 st at each end once on 10th foll row, then 1 st on every 6th row 6 times. When work measures 26 cm or 10 1/4" inc for side shaping 1 st at each end once, then 1 st on every 4th row 6 times. When work measures 36 cm or 14 1/8" from beginning bind off for armholes at each end on every alt row 4 sts once, 3 sts once and 1 st twice. When work measures 56 cm or 22" from beginning bind off rem sts. Sleeves: cast on 75 sts with 4.5 mm needles and K 1st row (= return row). When work measures 52 cm or 20 1/2" from beginning bind off rem sts. Work 2nd sleeve alike. Finishing: block pieces to measurements, cover with a damp cloth and leave to dry. Join seams. Along lower edge of cardigan, front edges and neck edge crochet 1 round crab sts (= sc from left to right), at right front work loops for buttons (= 5ch). Sew on buttons.
