I wasn’t at TISC’s practice last Thursday because I was out of town. Candy Wong was there and she wrote about the Four-Skaters Pile-Up!. Eeek. There has been a few multi-skater pile-ups at TISC, the most memorably infamous being the 8 skater pile-up in 2003.
Candy wrote ‘JaP had his skate stepped on and went down. What followed was a four-skaters pile-up with JaS, CC, and me all falling on top of each other. The guys had it the worst with road rashes here and there all over‘.
Chris Creveling leads the way at one of the hottest Eastern Seaboard Series races- 2005’s Debbie Kohl memorial- there was no water to be found aournd the race course and skaters were dropping out left center and right
The double World Inline Cup race day is coming tomorrow- you can read some recent Bill Begg commentary in WIC DOUBLE INCHEON / DIJON. I’ll outright copy most of Bill Begg’s last comment, where he says ‘Well 12 hours from now Incheon will have been decided, well The Men, without Mantia Saggioratto looks the favourite outright.as he is a monstor in the sprint, but Zangarini is a sit & pounce man & Rosero is leading the WIC, so he may have to give it away.as being a man short, it only leaves Iten as the wind up man. & Rosero the team leader will want to maitain his lead in the overall. A Breakaway win, Iten, Presti, Micheal, Ruales & Bastidas come into play.
In the ladies Cecilia is deadly in the last 200 meters, but in Incheon she encounters another powerfull finisher in Brittany Bowe, in the sprint, only Gegner, Lardarni, Begg & Gomez stand a chance with them.
If it gets down to a breakaway the odds favour BONT WHEELS, as with such a strong attacking line up, they should be sure to have someone in the break, or brought the break back,as Begg, Llorens & Vivas are proven in doing the hard yards, Gegner, Barbotin & Gloor are 3 others with a chance. It may be an opportunity for Tina Struever, not afraid to work in the break & racing along, can pick her chance.
Come Dijon, In the mens, DJ Nation, Mattheiu Boher, Jorge Cifuentes, Maxime Provost, Julian Despaux, Severin Widmer & Christian Diaz Granados appear to have the best chances.
While in the ladies its hard to see the French getting past Hilde Gooveats, World Marathon Champion Kelly Martinez, the well performed Martha Ramaiz & fellow Colombian Shaneen Howard, but the strongest group of all, will be the full team of the matter World Inline Center girls. Lina Holguin currently 4th in WIC, Nathalie Artero 5th, Andrea Hartichelhar 6th & Melissa Bonet 9th form a real formidable group, full of senior World medalists & a truckload of experience, a tough one to win‘.

You can also find some reporting USA NATIONALS WORLD CHAMP “MANTIA” LOOSES TITLE AND RECORD and Speed Skating Spectator’s FIRST DAY OF COMPETITION, where Linda Wood writes ‘Mr. Dane Lewis from Sacramento, California skated the race of a lifetime!! It was as if the “Speed Skating God’s” came down and stopped the wind for just 25.909 seconds. There was a slight breeze as Dane stepped to the line. Taking a breath and shaking his arms and hands out, mentally getting in the zone….. Dane set his feet in the 45 degree position. Next he “balanced” himself. As he placed his foot back with ease and control, the slight breeze just seemed to disappear. It was completely still… absolutely quiet….‘.
