Info, Facts: Hobbies - Collecting dolls

One of the most famous doll fans was Queen Victoria. She had a right royal collection of more than 100 dolls. Today, collecting dolls is big business, with some antique dolls selling for tens of thousands of pounds at auctions. Many collectors specialize in dolls from a particular country, period or manufacturer. If you fancy starting a collection yourself, remember to keep only dolls that are complete and undamaged. And always save the labels and boxes that they come in, because these make your doll more valuable. Your parents and grandparents may have dolls that they played with when they were children. Remember, your doll may be more than just a pretty face - it might even be a valuable antique.

You are going to write an informal letter to an English-speaking pen friend. Thank your friend for an invitation to visit his or her family in the summer. Explain that you are unable to go, as you have already made other plans.

A Before you write, decide what to say. What plans have you made for the summer?
List the informal expressions you could use to thank your pen-friend for the invitation and to apologize for having to turn it down.

B Write the letter in 120 - 180 words. Here is a brief paragraph planto follow:
1 - greetings and thanks for the invitation
2 - apologies for being unable to accept, with reasons
3 - conclusion. Say when you hope to see your pen friend again.
C Send your letter to sunex@fromru.com.
