The brief technical report for the open publication about performance of works during December 2008 – January 2009

The obtained results
We carried out an analysis of the epidemc situation on first time diagnosed human brucellosis in the Almaty area for 8 months of 2009 and previous 3 years. The area is one of the most problem regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the brucellosis morbidity. During 8 months of 2009 the incidence rate of first time diagnosed human brucellosis in the Almaty area exceeded the similar republican index in 1.9 times (18.4 per 100000 of population vs 9.7 per 100000 of population), in 2008 – in 2.0 times (30.6 vs 15.3). Year in year out in the Almaty area remains the stable high level of the first time diagnosed human brucell osis's incidence (annually from 316 till 370 cases, that corresponds to the incidence indices of 19.1 – 22.8 per 100000 of population – table 1).

Epidemic troubles on brucellosis in the area cause Ienbekshikazakh, Ieskeldy, Aksu, Sarkan, Kerbulak and Alakol districts, where the brucellosis incidence level in population exceeds mean regional one in several times (table 1).
According the carried out epidemiological inquiry in brucellosis foci it was established that in 2009 88,0% of patients were infecteed from agricultural animals, including 72.2% - from small cattle (figure 1). In 12.0% of cases the source of infection was not established.

An epizootic situation on brucellosis among agricultural animals in the Almaty area remains intense. The m ost contamination among small cattle in 2008 was marked in Alakol (1019 heads, contamination – 0.5%), Aksu (675 / 0.4%), Ienbekshikazakh (835 / 0.3%), Sarkand (281 / 0.3%) and Ieskeldy (86 / 0.1%) districts. The most contamination among cattle in 2008 was marked in Karasai (86 / 0.3%), Ili (70 / 0.3%), Raiymbek (158 / 0.2%), Alakol (97 / 0.2%), Uigur (70 / 0.2%), Talgar (67 / 0.2%) and Ienbekshikazakh (90 / 0.2%) districts. Eo ipso, the high level of the human brucellosis morbidity in the Almaty area is caused, first of all, by the unfavourable epizootic situation amon small cattle.
We continue filling in of thematic databases on the human brucellosis incidence in the connection of the Almaty area districts in 2009. After the completion of the coolection and processing of data we shall create an electronic map of territorial distribution of the human brucellosis incidence on Almaty area for 2009 in the Quantum GIS programme with use of generated shapefiles.

The results obtained

The main causes of epidemic troubles on brucellosis in the area are Yenbekshikazakh, Yeskeldy, Aksu, Sarkan, Kerbulak and Alakol districts, where the brucellosis incidence level in population exceeds mean regional one several times (table 1).
