CSR представляет недорогой микрочип Wi-Fi

Как сообщает WiFiPlanet, компания Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) – известный производитель чипов для Bluetooth – объявила о своей работе над микрочипом Wi-Fi для сотовых телефонов и бытовой техники.

По заявлениям компании, чип, называемый UniFi-1, будет являться самым дешевым решением из имеющихся на рынке, а его поставки начнутся уже в конце этого года. Массовое же производство компания планирует начать в 2005 году. Устройство будет иметь две разновидности: UniFi-1 Portable с поддержкой протоколов 802.11b/g для портативных устройств и UniFi-1 Consumer с поддержкой 802.11a/b/g для бытовой электроники.

Чип UniFi-1 объединяет в себе радиопередатчик, модем и контроллер доступа к линиям связи (MAC). Обе версии устройства используют технологии пространственного разнесения, являющиеся частью стандарта MIMO, а также, вероятно, и готовящегося высокоскоростного стандарта передачи данных Wi-Fi 802.11n.

In fact, listeners can enjoy music without the worry of missing a phone call, since the ringtone of a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone can be heard in the headphones. To ensure immediate access to audio from a wide range of sources, a USB-compliant Bluetooth dongle is also available to provide instant wireless connectivity to stereo headphones.

Compliant with the Bluetooth 1.2 specification, the product’s features include SBC, MP3 and WMA audio decoders and a comprehensive suite of Bluetooth profiles, including HFP, HSP and A2DP, ensuring interoperability with all major-brand GSM mobile phones supporting these profiles. An advantage of the new Bluetooth 1.2 specification is that it incorporates the Fast Connect feature, which eliminates delays in the system if a signal drops, improving the overall quality of the acoustic experience.

This production release of this Bluetooth stereo headphone reference design is a significant milestone for GCT and a major benefit for the company’s OEMs wishing to bundle headphones with other products or for those who specialize in headphones. GCT’s ODM partners offering reference designs include Global Sun Technology, Air2U, and Progressive Devices. This wide range of designs allows OEM customers to select a product that best suits their applications.
