Итак, начнем с Грамматики...

Grammar

So and Such

We use So:
1. So + adjective
For example: so quick, so stupid.
2. So + adverb
For example: so quickly, so badly.

We use Such:
1. Such + noun
For example: such a story, such people.
2. Such + adjective + noun
For example: such a stupid story, such nice people.
Note that we say such a... (not 'a such...')

1. He's difficult to understand because he speaks ..... quickly.

As good as – particularly, almost, nearly

All along - from the very first, from the very begin-ning (it impliest 'over a period of time' or 'during that period')

But on the edge of town, drills were driven out of his mind by something else. As he sat in the usual morning traffic jam, he couldn't help noticing that there seemed to be a lot of strangely dressed people about. People in cloaks. Mr. Dursley couldn't bear people who dressed in funny clothes — the getups you saw on young people! He supposed this was some stupid new fashion. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel and his eyes fell on a huddle of these weirdos standing quite close by. They were whispering excitedly together. Mr. Dursley was enraged to see that a couple of them weren't young at all; why, that man had to be older than he was, and wearing an emerald-green cloak! The nerve of him! But then it struck Mr. Dursley that this was probably some silly stunt — these people were obviously collecting for something... yes, that would be it. The traffic moved on and a few minutes later, Mr. Dursley arrived in the Grunnings parking lot, his mind back on drills.
Mr. Dursley always sat with his back to the window in his office on the ninth floor. If he hadn't, he might have found it harder to concentrate on drills that morning. He didn't see the owls swoop ing past in broad daylight, though people down in the street did; they pointed and gazed openmouthed as owl after owl sped overhead. Most of them had never seen an owl even at nighttime. Mr. Dursley, however, had a perfectly normal, owl-free morning. He yelled at five different people. He made several important telephone calls and shouted a bit more. He was in a very good mood until lunchtime, when he thought he'd stretch his legs and walk across the road to buy himself a bun from the bakery.

-- А картошка... Картошку выкопала? -- спросила нянюшка.
-- Да.
-- Урожай нынче богатый.
-- Богатый.
-- А бобы засолила?
-- Да.
-- Небось ждешь не дождешься Испытаний на той неделе?
-- Да.
-- Готовишься?
-- Нет.

Right translation:

looking at - следить за чем-либо (на мониторе)
spying on - следить за человеком
Muggers - грабитель, разбойник
Thieves (thief) - похититель, вор.
borrow - занимать деньги
steal (stole stolen) - красть
sentence - предположение
evidence - факты
accuse - упрекать явно за что-либо
commit - совершать что-либо дурное
dishonest - нечестный, можно сказать о событиях, поступках, людях
illegal - беззаконный, можно сказать о событиях, поступках
deny - отрицать
admit - допускать

Exercise 3. Translate into english.

Trouble began, and not for the first time, with an apple.
There was a bag of them on Granny Weatherwax's bleached and spotless table. Red and round, shiny and fruity, if they'd known the future they should have ticked like bombs.
'Keep the lot, old Hopcroft said I could have as many as I wanted,' said Nanny Ogg. She gave her sister witch a sidelong glance. 'Tasty, a bit wrinkled, but a damn good keeper.'
'He named an apple after you?' said Granny. Each word was an acid drop on the air. ''Cos of my rosy cheeks,' said Nanny Ogg. 'An' I cured his leg for him after he fell off that ladder last year. An' I made him up some jollop for his bald head.' 'It didn't work, though,' said Granny. 'That wig he wears, that's a terrible thing to see on a man still alive.'
'But he was pleased I took an interest.'
Granny Weatherwax didn't take her eyes off the bag. Fruit and vegetables grew famously in the mountains' hot summers and cold winters. Percy Hopcroft was the premier grower and definitely a keen man when it came to sexual antics among the horticulture with a camel-hair brush.

Exercise 4. Translate into russian.

В половине девятого Мистер Дурсль собрал свой портфель , клюнул в щеку миссис Дурсль и попытался поцеловать Дадли на прощание но промахнулся, потому что Дадли как раз в этот момент в приступе гнева кидал в стену кашу. "Шалун!" - фыркнул мистер Дурсль выходя из дома. Он сел в машину и выехал из переулка задним ходом.
Он был уже на углу улицы, когда заметил первый необычный знак - кошку, читающую карту. Секунду мистер Дарсли не мог сообразить что же он увидел - затем он резко повернул голову и посмотрел опять. На углу Бирючиновой улицы стояла полосатая кошка, однако никакой карты в помине не было. Как же он мог такое подумать? Наверное игра света. Мистер Дурсль моргая уставился на кошку. та в ответ уставилась на него. Пока мистер Дурсль огибал угол он наблюдал за кошкой через зеркало. Теперь она читала указатель "Бирючиновая улица"- нет, не смотрела на указатель; кошки не могут читать карты или указатели. Мистер Дурсль заставил себя встряхнуться и выкинул кошку из головы. Пока он ехал в город он не думал ни о чем кроме большой партии дрелей, которую он ожидал сегодня получить.
