Добрый день, Дорогой подписчик!

Мы продолжаем читать и переводить рассказ Джека Лондона "White Fang" "Белый клык". 

CHAPTER II-THE SHE-WOLF - ГЛАВА ВТОРАЯ. ВОЛЧИЦА

 1.With the coming of night in the mid-afternoon, the cries sounded closer 
 as the pursuers drew in  according to their custom; and the dogs grew excited  and frightened,
 and were guilty of panics that tangled the traces and further depressed the two men.

С наступлением темноты,  когда погоня,  как и следовало ожидать,  приблизилась,
вой послышался почти  рядом;  собаки дрожали от страха, метались  и путали  постромки, 
еще  больше  угнетая этим людей. 

 2. "There, that'll fix you fool critters," Bill said with
 satisfaction that night, standing erect at completion of his task.
 
--  Ну, безмозглые твари, теперь уж никуда  не денетесь, --
с довольным  видом сказал Билл на  очередной стоянке. 

3. Henry left the cooking to come and see.
 
Генри оставил стряпню и подошел посмотреть.

4. Not only had his partner tied the dogs up, but he had
 tied them, after the Indian fashion, with sticks.
 
Его товарищ привязал  собак  по индейскому
способу,  к палкам.

5.  About the neck of each dog he had fastened a leather thong.  
To this, and so close to the neck that the dog  could not get his teeth to it, he had
                                       tied a stout stick four or five feet in length.   The other end of the stick, in turn,                                                    was made fast to a stake in the ground by means of a leather thong.
    
На  шею каждой  собаки  он  надел кожаную петлю, 
 к петле  привязал толстую длинную  палку --  вплотную  к шее;
                          другой  конец палки был прикреплен кожаным ремнем к вбитому в  землю колу.                     

6. The dog was unable to gnaw through the leather at his а own end of the stick.   
 The stick prevented him from getting at the leather that fastened the other end.

Собаки не  могли перегрызть ремень около шеи,
 палки мешали им достать зубами привязь  у кола. 
 

7. Henry nodded his head approvingly.
  
Генри одобрительно кивнул головой.

8. "It's the only contraption that'll ever hold One Ear," he said.
 
--  Одноухого  только  таким способом  и можно удержать.
