It is now known as MRG Effitas Real Time Protection Testing Project and the main difference is the greatly increased number of malware samples and higher testing frequency. 50 unique and dangerous malware samples are used every week. A total of 17 well known security applications were tested on Windows 7 32bit in the first quarter of 2013. All test samples represent current zero day threats. The largest malware categories included in the test were trojans and financial malware, followed by ransomware, PUA (Potentially Unwanted Applications) and rootkits.
