One of the most sustainable yet unappealing is no package at all. Moreover, it is applicable not for all types of food, but for fruits & vegetable it fits well.

Here is and example of how 'packaging off' could be compensated with a beautiful visual form. An American artist Laura Stein, the graduate of California Institute of the Arts 1984, came up with a creative project "Animal-Vegetable" - the way of growing vegetables and fruits in a samm plastiv containers of different whimsical shapes. Smiling tomato or a Buddah-shaped pear are not the goods we'd find in our supermarket area, but Japanese square water melons and pumpkins are now quite ordinary things we can definitely buy.
