The 2.8% abv beer (instead of standard Guinness 4.1% abv) will be sold in 13 venues during 3 months. This low-alcohol Guinness variant was on trial in Ireland: in Limerick since 2006 and in Dublin - since 2007.

According to Steve Hamilton, director of innovation and nurture at Diageo, the trial of Guinness Mid-Strength had a positive consumer feedback.

The Scottish Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon says that the initiative is very important for creation of new drinking culture with lower-alcohol products.
