Idiom 1.
I'd like to thank Margel for this expression!
A DAY BEFORE THE FAIR.
Spoken American English.
Word-for-word translation:
What does it mean?
1. What kind of day is it? Apparently it's busy with last preparation and
organizational moments.
2. Can it be busy with promoting your goods and meetings with futur
customers? I doubt it very much. It's not time for that yet.
- Take it easy, Tim, I'm sure you'll pass your exam. You started
worrying a day before the fair.
1. I'm giving you only one hint today. To get the meaning we have to base
ourselves on such a feature of a nut as "hardness". Taking into account
that acorns are nuts too and that they grow on oaks....
Here's the meaning:
Actually this word is more teasing than rude. You can even say
it to you beloved one. For instance, for the 5th time you are explaining
your dear husband how you want to place the furniture and still do not
see understanding in his beautiful eyes, you may say:
- Darling, you are nut, aren't you?
I wish nobody ever cooked your goose! And till
tomorrow!
Please write to my e-mail about
your impressions and wishes. Bye-bye! Tory.
